I like when the town starts to thaw our in the Spring and start looking like Heritage once again. I don't always appreciate the extra work it brings with it, but ah well.

On an unrelated note, what is a 'meme'? How does one pronounce such a word? More importantly, why should I inherently know this information?

I wish my co-coworkers understood the concept of a sick day. Yes, I know it will inconvenience us to cover for you, but I would prefer it over the flu and strep throat you gave me, which has in turn caused me to take, thus far, two of my own sick days.

Did that come out sounding overly mean, or just grumpy and irritable?

It's official, I am done my Christmas shopping as of today. Sofie, mark that down in the record books. This may very well be the earliest I have ever finished Christmas shopping for everyone. I even mailed the ones going to my son's place on this past Thursday. It feels good to be on the ball about some things. Good, but tiring.

Every time I start to slowly get the hang of some new technology or gizmo my youngest decides I must have or use, she comes up with something else. I now have a cell phone that can do more than my TV, my computer and, I'm pretty sure, the Apollo 11 spacecraft...but I can't seem to get it to make calls. This is very counterproductive and serves to do nothing but make me feel antiquated and useless. Even this internet posting stuff...all I seem to do is complain about what an old fart I am. Somehow this has made me want to turn the record player on.

I realize I am going to date myself by even bringing this up, but I am okay with that. You kids these days that was painful to type, and not just because I type like a slug, you listen to shitty music. And you don't even listen to it properly. It's got no substance. It's crystal clear and over produced. Clicks, pops and white noise are important to the experience, y'know...How evident is it that I've broken out my old records for an afternoon of nostalgia and feeling severely old?

My youngest daughter is always telling me I should immerse myself into technology. I get by with minimal use of technology. Computers are a necessary evil for me. I am a slow typist. By the time I finish this entry, I will probably have been sitting at this computer for at least a half an hour, probably more.

I wish I'd had a camera while I was out in the garden today. Rufus and Homer, my rabbits, were chasing very energetic today. They were chasing Ahab (my beagle) around for a good hour. The poor puppy just couldn't keep up with their hopping. They were distracted by a duck and six of her ducklings crossing the backyard and making a pit stop at Ahab and Seymour's (Seymour's a mutt: bull terrier, shiba inu, bull mastiff, dalmatian mix. Basically he's a mess!) water bowl. Seymour tried to swat at them and the duckling's mama chased him away. I never saw Seymour run away so fast with his tail between his legs.

My day was boring to most people and I'm about to head into work, so there you have it. And update. If my children are reading this, can we please remain in contact the slightly old fashioned way, by telephone or, oh I don't know...face to face?
